The Students’ Union Building
Owned and operated by the University of Alberta Students’ Union (UASU), SUB is the living room of campus and a hub for student life. SUB is your space to chill, study, hang out with friends, snack or do nothing. It has the things you want and need, including a food court, pharmacy, print shop, convenience store, medical clinic, quiet study spaces, a live event theatre as well as a UAlberta bookstore and an optometrist.
SUB offers UAlberta students many amazing services including Student Group Services, The Landing, the Peer Support Centre, Safewalk, InfoLink, the Campus Food Bank, Student Accessibility Services, the Career Centre and much more.
SUB Maintenance Bulletin
Wifi Access Point Upgrades: Access points are being upgraded across the building. Please expect workers on ladders working with cabling through out building until mid August 2026. Managed By: University of Alberta
Drainage Stack Related Outages: The University is currently working on urgent repairs to a broken drainage stack in the building. Floors 0-3 will be repaired first with an estimated completion date of late August. Please expect extra noise on the lower level of SUB as work is completed. Washrooms and all sinks on floors 3-8 are out of order for the forseeable, with work beginning this fall. Managed By: University of Alberta
Second Floor Washroom Outages: The washrooms on the second floor of SUB will be temporarily out of order on Wednesday August 5, 2026 from approximately 6AM - Noon. This is necessary as water will be shut off to repair leaks elsewhere in the building. Managed By: University of Alberta
SUB Hours
SUB is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Access is by ONEcard from 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM.
On statutory holidays in the summer (Victoria Day, Canada Day, Alberta Heritage Day), only the lower level and first floor will be open.
SUB is closed during the period from Christmas Day to New Year's Day.
