Dreamcatcher™ is looking for experienced Pre-Event Volunteers to help with our Alberta Open Farm Days Event held in August, 2024.

Positions with Potential Duties (depending on level of experience):

Event Planner/Organizer
- help with planning the event activities
- contact potential vendors
- create a cohesive event schedule for the volunteers & staff to follow
- possibly pick up items needed for the event or coordinate a person to do so
- possibly administrative work
- other various organizational tasks
(Note: this role can be done mostly remotely)

Marketer
- create content related to the event
- create an event map for guests to follow
- check inventory for our market booth
- contact media and other places for advertising event
- develop an event brand that is cohesive with our brand
(Note: this role can be done mostly remotely)

Event Setup
- help clean up the magical forest trail (a few days to one week before)
- decorate the magical forest trail (a few days to one week before)
- sweep out the barn (night before)
- wash and set up tables (night before)
- pull market booth items from storage for easy set up the next day
- other various tasks that may need to be done
(Note: this role requires on-site/in-person)

When is the event?
- Alberta Open Farm Days is set to be held on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th from 9am to 6pm.

Who We Are:

Dreamcatcher™ Nature Assisted Therapy is home to a variety of carefully selected and screened rescue farm animals that assist our team of Registered Psychologists/ Social Workers provide unique forms of therapy for those in our community.

Animal Care Role:

For Dreamcatcher™, our top priority is the ethical treatment and quality care for our animals; which is why we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who can provide them with the highest standard of care that enhances their overall health and wellbeing.

As a volunteer, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring animals have food and water
- Cleaning animal enclosures and outdoor pens
-Collecting, candling, and washing eggs
- Administering supplements and medications as advised by veterinarians and staff
- Providing enrichment to the animals
- Assisting with extra animal duties such as, parasite control (deworming/delousing/FAMACHA scoring), trimming goat hooves and chicken talons, assisting as an animal handler during client sessions or at events, assisting with the farrier, sheep shearer, and veterinarian; etc.
-Monitoring and reporting of any signs of illness or injury of the animals

Dreamcatcher™ Nature-Assisted Therapy is looking for positive, enthusiastic, and fun individuals to harness their social skills and engage the public in new and exciting activities. In addition, if you have always wanted to work alongside animals but wanted to skip the hard work of caring for them, then our Recreation/Tourism position may be perfect for you!

We are planning to host monthly events between May & October.
Some event ideas we might do are:
- Mother's Day Event (May)
- Movie Night in the Barn (May or June)
- Open House Event (June or July)
- Alberta Open Farm Days (August)
- Halloween Event (October)

We might also run some interactive tours and animal yoga during the main events. Shifts may be between 6-8 hours long depending on the event. Majority of events will be hosted on Saturdays and Sundays but may occasionally be hosted on a Friday.

Age Requirements:
- Must be 14+ to volunteer without parent/guardian
- Please inquire if you wish to volunteer with children under 12

Duties may include:
- Providing interactive animal tours for our visitors
- Helping with setting up and tearing down the events
- Managing the market booth stand
- Animal handling for animal yoga
- Ensuring all guests are interacting safely with the animals
- Helping with decorating the magical forest trails
