Week of Welcome is the biggest volunteer group on campus, and has positions for people with all kinds of strengths and interests.

Position Descriptions WOW 2023


Tour and Activities Team Facilitators (TATFs)

Approximate Time Commitment: 120 hours over 10 months

This position will, along with the other TATFs, help to oversee the Tour & Activity Volunteers Duties will include, but are not limited too:

  1. Giving tour training to the Tour & Activity Facilitators prior to New Student Orientation.
  2. Organizing and supporting team bonding events throughout the summer for all volunteers.
  3. Be a knowledgeable first point of contact for both volunteers and in some cases, new students on campus locations, buildings, and general information.
  4. Facilitate training for Tour and Activities volunteers.
  5. Provide assistance to all Week of Welcome activities (Including WOW Village, MainStage, and Pancakes).
  6. Promotions of the Week of Welcome program during recruitment periods.

Site and Admin Team Facilitator (SATF)

Approximate Time Commitment: 120 hours over 10 months

This position will, along with the other SATFs, help to oversee the Site & Admin Volunteers. SATFs duties will include, but are not limited too:

  1. Working "behind the scenes" to help support front-facing aspects of New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome.
  2. Organizing and supporting team bonding events throughout the summer for all volunteers.
  3. Facilitate training for Site and Admin volunteers.
  4. Provide assistance to all Week of Welcome activities (Including WOW Village, MainStage, and Pancakes).
  5. Promotions of the Week of Welcome program during recruitment periods.

Information and Presentation Team Facilitator (IPTF)

Approximate Time Commitment: 140 hours over 10 months

This position will, along with the other IPTFs, help to oversee the Information & Presentation Facilitators, as well as the delivery of UAlberta 101. IPTFs duties will include, but are not limited too:

  1. Working to deliver the UAlberta101 presentation during New Student Orientation
  2. Organizing and supporting team bonding events throughout the summer for all volunteers.
  3. Facilitate training for the Information and Presentation Facilitators
  4. Provide assistance to all Week of Welcome activities (Including WOW Village, MainStage, and Pancakes).
  5. Promotions of the Week of Welcome program during recruitment periods.
