Week of Welcome Team Facilitators

Team Facilitators are Senior Level volunteers with the Week of Welcome Program. The position is hired for an entire year and applications open in September.

These sessions will provide you with more in depth descriptions of each position, descriptions of the time commitment necessary for the role, and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have! TF Info Sessions will be held:

  • Wednesday September 18th, 2019: 6:00PM - 7:00PM, SUB Marigold Room (0-31)
  • Thursday September 19th, 2019: 6:00PM - 7:00PM, SUB Juniper Room (0-33)
  • Monday September 23rd, 2019: 6:00PM - 7:00PM, SUB Juniper Room (0-33)
  • Tuesday September 24th, 2019: 6:00PM - 7:00PM, SUB Marigold Room (0-31)

Position Descriptions

Faculty Team Facilitators

Approximate time commitment: 130 hours over 10 months

Faculty Team Facilitators work together to recruit teams of General Volunteers for each of our represented faculties, and support them throughout their time with Week of Welcome. As a Faculty Team Facilitator, you will be responsible for leading training sessions, planning summer events, and managing a team of volunteers.

The Faculty Team Facilitator role is divided into Faculty TF-Events and Faculty TF-Orientation. Events Faculty Team Facilitators will have special training on facilitating the week-long events during Week of Welcome, while Orientation Team Facilitators will receive extra training on campus tours and managing volunteers on the day of New Student Orientation.

Orientation Presentation Team Facilitator

Approximate time commitment: 160 hours over 10 months

Our Orientation Presentation Team Facilitator's work closely with staff to develop the UAlberta 101 and UAlberta 201 presentations given during New Student Orientation. OPTFs will hire, train, and support a group of General Volunteers who will be part of the presentations team during New Student Orientation.

Program Support Team Facilitator

Approximate time commitment: 150 hours over 10 months

Program Support Team Facilitators will be hiring, training, and leading the Program Support Crew throughout Week of Welcome. Program Support TFs will be trained to run student registration and site management during New Student Orientation, and will provide logistical support for Week of Welcome along with their team.

WOW Media Director

Approximate time commitment: 130 hours over 10 months

The WOW Media Director is responsible for the planning and creation of various digital media projects for the Week of Welcome program. These include projects like the Volunteer Lip Dub and the New Student Orientation same day edit, among others. The WOW Media Director role works closely with both staff and the UASUEvents Media Team to create quality digital media throughout the year.
