Week of Welcome Team Facilitators


Team Facilitator applications are now closed

Team Facilitators are Senior Level volunteers with the Week of Welcome Program. The position is hired for an entire year and applications open in October. Please stay tuned for additional information regarding the application process and key dates.

The current plan for WOW 2022 is a hybrid model with a mix of online and in-person experiences but there are no exact schedules at this time. Week of Welcome staff are monitoring the current environment and will look to the Alberta government and University of Alberta for more guidance as September approaches. Although September remains uncertain, the need for dedicated and passionate volunteers remains the same!

PLEASE NOTE:

  • To apply to be a Team Facilitator, you must have previously volunteered with WOW for at least 1 year, and have attended an information session about being a Team Facilitator. For the schedule for TF info sessions, please check out the schedule below:

Team Facilitator Position Descriptions

Approximate Time Commitment: 160 hours over 10 months

Tour and Activities Team Facilitators (TATFs) - This position will, along with the other TATFs, help to oversee the Tour & Activity Facilitators (formerly known as Faculty Leaders). Duties will include, but are not limited too:

  • 1) Giving tour training to the Tour & Activity Facilitators prior to New Student Orientation.

  • 2) Organizing and facilitating team bonding events for the TATF Team.

  • 3) Be a knowledgable first point of contact for both volunteers and in some cases, new students on campus locations, buildings, and general information.

  • 4) Facilitate both Pancakes and Quad Activities during Week of Welcome.

Site and Admin Team Facilitator (SATF) - This position will, along with the other SATFs, help to oversee the Site & Admin Facilitators. SATFs duties will include, but are not limited too:

  • 1) Working "behind the scenes" to help support front facing aspects of New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome.

  • 2) Organizing and facilitating team bonding events for the Site and Admin Team.

  • 3) Facilitate training for Site and Admin Facilitator volunteers Information & Presentations Team Facilitator (IPTF)

  • 4) Provide assistance to both Clubs Fair & the WOW Village as well as the WOW Main Stage/Beer Gardens during Week of Welcome.

Information and Presentation Team Facilitator (IPF) - This position will, along with the other OPTFs, help to oversee the Information & Presentation Facilitators, as well as the delivery of UAlberta 101 and UAlberta 201 . IPTFs duties will include, but are not limited too:

  • 1) Working to deliver the UAlberta 101 presentation during New Student Orientation

  • 2) Organizing and facilitating team bonding events for the Information & Presentations Team.

  • 3) Facilitate training for IPF team.

  • 4) Provide assistance to the WOW Main Stage/Beer Gardens during Week of Welcome.

Promotions & Party Team Facilitator (PPTF) - This position, along with the other PPTFs, help to oversee the Promotions and Party Team, who work to help promote, and advertise New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome programming. Their duties are, but are not limited too:

  • 1) Working with the other PPTFs to come up with a promotional strategy for NSO and WOW programming, including general volunteer training.

  • 2) Organizing and facilitating team bonding events for the PPF Team.

  • 3) Facilitate training for Promotions and Media Facilitators.

  • 4) Helping to create a direction for Week of Welcome promotion, General Volunteer Recruitment, and New Student Orientation promotion to incoming first year students.

  • 5) Provide assistance to the WOW Main Stage/Beer Gardens as well as Evening Events (i.e Comedy Night, Wayne Lee Hypnotist) during Week of Welcome.

*Preference for this position are returning Team Facilitators who have had multiple years of experience with the WOW Program.
