Think of the Access Fund first!

The Access Fund offers non-repayable financial assistance for undergraduate students at the University of Alberta.

We provide assistance to students who are either ineligible for student loans, have reached the maximum in their student loan amounts or simply do not have access to sufficient funding.

Before you access private (bank) loans, please come see us. We are here to help you.

To apply, stop by the Student Financial Aid Information Centre at 1-80 SUB and book an appointment at the front desk.

You can also download an application form from this website and then phone (780) 492-3483 to book an appointment to review your application.

There are six applications periods per year. We will begin booking appointments for the Spring 2012 semester on May 7, 2012 and Summer 2012 semester on July 9, 2012. If you are interested, please contact our office to book an appointment and pick up an application form.

Last year, we distributed over $810,809 to 356 students in need. The average bursary awarded last year was $2278. The yearly maximum you can receive is $3000 and the lifetime maximum is $6000.

The Access Fund is a program offered for all Undergraduate students attending the University of Alberta.

Access Fund Successes

Year after year, the Access Fund has been able to provide aid for students who have reached the limits of their student loans and other financial resources.

Each year every application is reviewed by the Access Fund Selection Committee, ensuring that all applicants are treated fairly and in line with established policy guidelines.

In the 2010/2011 academic year the Access Fund provided over $810,809 in bursaries to 356 applicants.

Since its establishment in 1995, the Access Fund has distributed $10,047,128 to 6096 applicants.
