Advocacy

The Students’ Union represents student interests in the media and to every order of government. Here is a sample of just some of issues we’re working on:

Federal:
Student financial aid, textbook costs and aboriginal access issues.

Provincial:
Housing, base funding for Universities, institutional quality, deferred maintenance.

Municipal:
Transportation, municipal property taxes on residences

University:
Professor evaluation, student engagement, support for student groups, sustainability initiatives, teaching quality health plans.

The Students' Union's Department of Research and Political Affairs is designed to enable your elected executives to achieve their goals. We provide research on key issues, maintain contact with the media and members of the municipal, provincial and federal government, lobby university administrators, and make events happen.
