A few days before orientation, you will receive an email with your meeting location on campus. In the meantime, here’s what to know about your New Student Orientation.
What to bring?
- Your class schedule (printed or on your phone)
- A water bottle
- A charged phone/device
- Snacks and lunch (there are food options available on campus!)
- Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
During New Student Orientation, you'll have the opportunity to explore the University of Alberta with a group of fellow incoming students in the same faculty. Together, you'll attend presentations, go on a campus tour, and get to meet some of the amazing student clubs you could join!
Presidents' Address @ Campus Kickoff
Date: September 1, 2026 (3:30pm - 5:00pm)
Location: Main Quad
Campus Kickoff is a jam-packed afternoon with music, games, and giveaways! Hear from the University of Alberta President at the annual President's Address, as well as the University of Alberta Students' Union President and the President of the Alumni Association as they all welcome you to campus to kick off a fantastic year to come!
All new students are expected to attend. New Student Orientation is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn some of the ins and outs of campus life.

Yes! Both NSO Day 1 and Day 2 include critical information and fun activities that better prepare you for your University journey and welcome you to your new community!
Registered students will receive an email in late August indicating all information regarding schedule, times and other important information to your orientation experience.
