Vision
To encourage action and entrepreneurship that combines sustainability, technology, and data to strategically impact urban and rural environments by engaging citizens better.
Mission
To design a series of sustainability themed events to encourage ecological and social innovation in Edmonton and Alberta. To create collaborative spaces for students, professors, citizens, professionals, institutions, and corporations to co-learn, network, and develop ideas. We support these networks and ideas by sharing information and resources, presenting innovations in sustainability, and providing inspiration and incentives to create new initiatives.
Goals
To ensure representation from each of the aforementioned groups, with emphasis on providing students with opportunities to present research and projects. To accomplish this, Sustain X events will be flexible to accommodate different citizens and groups: venues and dates will regularly change, and events take on various formats (e.g. speaker series, hack-a-thons, workshops, showcases, and pitch nights). To facilitate online networking, matchmaking, and supports the creation of tools and standards to encourage action.
