ASLS: Planned by students, for students.
We believe that students are the best people to decide what students want to see in a student leadership conference; that's why we have a team of students who direct the conference. The directors take on roles from setting the schedule to coordinating volunteers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is ASLS for?
ASLS is created for high school and post secondary students who are at varying points in their leadership journey. Whether you are just starting out or are already making moves, you’ll find something at ASLS for you. We also welcome community members, education staff, and others who are interested in learning more about leadership!
Where does ASLS take place?
ASLS will be held at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. The exact location will be released closer to the date of the event. Even though the event takes place at the U of A, we welcome students from all schools!
ASLS sounds awesome! How do I become a student director?
Applications are now closed for ASLS 2020. Stay tuned for next year! Or click here to apply to be a senior volunteer or general volunteer.
How do I become a presenter at ASLS?
Each year the call for proposals looks a bit different, but we generally open submissions in the fall (between September and October). Keep an eye on our social media pages! Once we’ve received all our submissions, our directors make the final say in that year’s schedule.
Can I volunteer at ASLS?
You bet! We open volunteer applications before the holiday break. We are looking for volunteers for everything from registration, to social media, to facilitation!
What is included in the ticket price?
So many things! Not only do you get to see engaging presentations and workshops, but you also get the chance to network with other delegates, local businesses and organizations, and community leaders. You’ll get some ASLS swag and tasty meals throughout the day!
What if I can’t afford the ticket price?
Our first priority is to make leadership accessible. If you want to attend, but can’t afford the ticket, please fill out a bursary application form (found here). Bursaries are available to both high school and post-secondary students. Bursaries are given out based on level of need and distributed on a rolling basis, so apply as early as you can!
I’m coming from out of town. Where can I stay?
We reserve a block of rooms at the Lister Conference Center. To book your reservation, please call Lister Center Front Desk (780-428-6611) and book under the Alberta Student Leadership Summit. Lister Center is located right on the University Campus, steps away from where the Summit will take place.
