The Works Arts & Design Festival is North America's largest free Art and Design festival. The festival will be taking place from June 27-July 1, 2024 on Sir Winston Churchill Square. The Works Festival offer rich arts programming and live entertainment, all for free to the general public!

Why Volunteer With Us?
Our Volunteers are the hear of The Works Art & Design Festival. Without them, North America's largest free outdoor art and design festival would not exist. We work closely with our volunteers to provide the training and education needed to help us make art accessible to the public. We at The Works value inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility in our volunteer base and encourage anyone who may require accommodation to apply!

Here are the various festival volunteer positions that we offer:

1. Exhibit Attendant - You'll play an important in the festival and will be one of the many faces for all the festival's visitors. This role allows you to have the opportunity to greet and interact with the public about art or the festival itself.

2. Family Programming - This position is great for educators, education students, or anyone that loves creativity and working with children. Family Programs Assistant will assist the Family Programming Coordinator with different engaging crafts and activities for festival patrons. References required and subject to a Vulnerable Person's Check.

3. Greeter - You'll be the first face patrons see when they enter the festival. This position plays an integral role to The Works festival as counting how many patrons have visited the festival affects future funding.

4.Grounds Maintenance - This position will keep the outdoor site environmentally friendly and attractive for all patrons to enjoy. This is a great position for those who do not desire to socialize or interact with the public or other volunteers too much.

5.Information Tent - You'll play an important role in the smooth running of the festival. This position is great for folks wishing to practice social skills, visual arts students wishing to dive into the local art world, or any community member looking for an introduction into the arts.

6.Patio Gate Crew - This position is responsible for counting patrons as they enter and leave specific gates to ensure compliance with AGLC regulations. Patio Gate Volunteers must be over the age of 18.

7.Tour Guides - You'll play an important role in making The Works Art & Design Festival on Churchill Square come alive! This is a great role for volunteers that are looking to develop public speaking skills or to learn more in-depth about contemporary and local art and art interpretation.

8.Volunteer Administration - You'll play an important role as you will assist the volunteer coordinator prior, during, and after the festival depending on volunteer availability. This role is great for volunteers who are looking to develop administration skills, learn more about the behind the scenes of the festival, and communicate more with volunteers and staff than the public.

Additional Information:
Most shifts are 4 hours in length or just under, including a 30-minute break. We ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of 12 hours. Accommodation can be made—just ask!

Position Description: Patio Bar Server

- Patio Bar Server volunteers exchange drink tickets for cash/card, uphold AGLC rules, and serve alcohol to festival patrons. Duties may be split to cashier and server depending on the number of patrons.

- As this is a trusted position, volunteers may ask to provide a personal reference or have a previous trusted connection to The Works. Volunteers must be over the age of 18 and have or be or willing to get their Pro-Serve. While chairs and regular breaks will be provided, the ability to have a wide range of motion and perform repetitive movements is required.

Additional Information:

- For this position, all shifts are 6 hours in length from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., including a 30-minute break. We ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of 12 hours. Accommodation can be made - just ask!

Position Description: Volunteer Photographer

Volunteer Photographers play an integral role in The Works Arts & Design Festival, using their skilled eyes to capture special moments and memories we can share with the world. Volunteers interested in this position may be asked to submit a resume of their photography experience and must bring their own DSLR camera. The ability to remain outside for an entire shift in all (safe) weather conditions, roaming the festival grounds solo, and a comfort approaching patrons to ask for consent form to be signed is required.

Additional Information:

Volunteer Photographers must bring their own DSLR camera and attend The Works free photography orientation. The shifts for this position is 3-hour in length between 10:30 a.m. - 11 p.m.
