Volunteer Registry

Your Campus Connection

Description:

The project is organised in support of Schools for disabled children in Ungaran, Semarang, Bandung, Surabaya, Sumatera Island etc. Local staff provide care to the special needs students aged between 5 and 17 years old. Education classes start as early as kindergarten up to junior high-school. It also provides vocational training, sport, motor activities, drawing, making handicrafts, dance, etc. Some local volunteers also do regular activities with the school like sports, playing with the kids, and teaching them how to make some simple handicrafts. The project aim is to provide good quality education for disabled children and give them basic skills that hopefully will be useful in their future.

The volunteer will assist local teachers in conducting hands-on learning activities in order to stimulate children's motoric. The volunteer should be creative in planning activities. Moreover, the contact with international volunteers is an opportunity for the kids to learn about different cultures and countries as well as to learn simple English. Intercultural learning activities in the form of dialogue, music and games are also welcome.
