Volunteer Registry

Your Campus Connection

Description:

This Learning Center in Angkor Chey district, Kampot province was established in 2014 to provide free alternative education for children and teenagers. There are three classrooms and 285 students now study English with their international and local volunteer teachers. The center also provides computer courses for the teenagers and library access for students and children from the community.
The Learning center also works closely with the local people in the community to support their income generation activities. The aim is to develop organic farming and handicrafts, and enable local people to increase their income and improve their livelihoods. There's also a plan to create a weekend market where farm products and handcraft products will be sold.

Volunteers are needed to help implement these projects. All motivated volunteers are welcome to join us in making change in this community, supporting the culture of peace and sustainability, and learning about the life of the community along the way. Help us to bring parents back home to the village, to bring children back to school, and to invigorate a village for hundreds of families.

Aims and activities of the project:
• Work and interaction with local children and teenagers using English language
• Promoting global education among students from the Learning Center
• Teaching English to children at the center in cooperation with the staff
• Organizing cultural exchange activities with the students
• Help with development and construction tasks as needed by the Learning Center
• Learning about Cambodian culture from local people and volunteers
• Visiting a village to explore and experience real life of local families
• Supporting community projects guided by the staff and management of the center

Benefits:

Participating in an international short term volunteer project (so called Workcamp) can be an exciting prospect. It is an interesting and meaningful way to travel with purpose and spend 2-3 weeks in a foreign environment. Working and living together with other volunteers from around the world provides an excellent opportunity to make many new friends, learn about unknown places and culture, gain new skills and experience. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm can make a difference in areas where help is really needed.
After successful participation CADIP issues a certificate for the completed volunteer hours.
