Volunteer Registry

Your Campus Connection

Description:

Most schools in Tanzania have long vacation in the month of December when students stay at home. During this time, kids are expected to join family members for extracurricular activities, educational tours and other studies outside the classroom. However the experience has indicated that at this time most students do not have any structured activities stimulating their personal and academic development. As a result, bad influence of the society during holiday time affects the kids significantly since they join different peer groups and have limited supervision from their parents or guardians. This project is therefore aiming to fill the gap through effective utilizing the vacation time to allow student/kids to join structured activities that will contribute to their growth as well as allow parents to get involved in productive economic activities.

The volunteers will work with 50-100 children from the community who are between 5-13 years old, mostly pre-school and primary school students.

Project dates: December 10 - December 23, 2019

Qualifications:

Volunteers with good computer skills, interested in scientific work and/or photographing are very much welcome to this project.
It is important that the volunteers are in good physical shape because we will do a lot of hiking and outdoor activities in this project.

Training:

There will be an orientation meeting on the first day of the project.

Benefits:

Participating in an international short term volunteer project (so called Workcamp) can be an exciting prospect. It is an interesting and meaningful way to travel with purpose and spend 2-3 weeks in a foreign environment. Working and living together with other volunteers from around the world provides an excellent opportunity to make many new friends, learn about unknown places and culture, gain new skills and experience. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm can make a difference in areas where help is really needed.
After successful participation CADIP issues a certificate for the completed volunteer hours.
