Damon Atwood
Hello friends! My name is Damon Atwood (he/him) and I’m running for SU and GFC Councillor for the Faculty of Law. I'm a bit more... grey... than some of you, but that just means you can talk to me like you would your dad (if he had a super cool hat like this one which I borrowed from my daughter!). My age also frees me up to challenge the "way things are," without worrying about all those unspoken things (i.e. references, future job prospects, etc.) that sometimes keep advocates from being true to their purpose.
I spent a little more than the last decade working for the Federal Government which has an enormous amount of bureaucracy. I know first-hand how frustrating it can be when it seems like the system is working against you. I came back to law school for the express purpose of helping others, ensuring our systems work as intended and are improved where needed, and ensuring those in power are held accountable.
If you want to know about me just know I'm a huge nerd with a passion for painting miniatures, writing, coding, learning, and sometimes just staring into space. I'm also blessed(?) with autism spectrum disorder, and while I'm not nearly as cool as Extraordinary Attorney Woo, I do often forget to say hello. Don't be afraid of my Resting Bruh Face, I'm always willing to help.
