General Manager
Marc Dumouchel
The General Manager (GM) is the Students' Union's top permanent employee, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the SU and for long-term operational planning.
Reporting to the Students' Union President and working closely with the rest of the Executive Team, the GM provides invaluable advice and fosters continuity from year to year within the SU.
All SU businesses and services report to Senior Managers who, in turn, report to the GM. With over 290 employees, dozens of departments, and a budget of more than fifteen million dollars, it's a big job.
An alumnus of the U of A, Marc holds a BA (Special) in Philosophy, and previously served as Students' Union President in 1991-92.
Marc is also active in the community, having served on the board of the Old Strathcona Business Association as well as several terms as President of the Board of Azimuth Theatre.
Prior to returning to the Students' Union, Marc founded a web and technology services company and worked with a variety of clients in the arts, education, and business sectors.
As a non-student, the General Manager is a non-voting member of Students' Council and of the Executive Committee.
Le directeur général (DG) est le principal employé permanent du union étudiant, responsable des opérations quotidiennes du SU et de la planification opérationnelle à long terme.
Relevant du président du SU et travaillant en étroite collaboration avec le reste de l'équipe de direction, le directeur général fournit des conseils précieux et favorise la continuité d'année en année au sein du syndicat.
Toutes les activités et tous les services du SU sont placés sous la responsabilité de cadres supérieurs qui, à leur tour, rendent compte au GM. Avec plus de 290 employés, des dizaines de départements et un budget de plus de quinze millions de dollars, c'est un gros travail.
Ancien élève de l'Université de l'Alberta, Marc est titulaire d'un BA (spécial) en philosophie et a été président de l'Union des étudiants en 1991-92.
Marc est également actif au sein de la communauté, ayant siégé au conseil d'administration de la Old Strathcona Business Association ainsi que plusieurs mandats en tant que président du conseil d'administration du théâtre Azimuth.
Avant de retourner au SU, Marc a fondé une entreprise de services Web et technologiques et a travaillé avec une variété de clients dans les secteurs des arts, de l'éducation et des affaires.
En tant que non-étudiant, le directeur général est un membre sans droit de vote du conseil des étudiants et du comité exécutif.
