Scholarships
Other sources of funding include scholarships, offered by both the Student Awards Office (1st floor, Administration Building) and the Alberta Learning website.
There are many types of scholarships, and not all are based on academic achievement. Check it out to see if you qualify! Click the links below to go to the University of Alberta Student Awards, Students' Union Awards, or the Alberta Learning Scholarships websites.
Remember to check early and often as application deadlines are varied. Check out this great website for advice on searching, organizing, preparation for awards: How To Win a Merit Scholarship.
Note: You must state any scholarships or award amounts that will be received for the current academic year on student loan forms. If an award or scholarship is received during the academic year, the student will need to notify the Students Finance Board by filling out a Change of Circumstance form. There is an $1800 scholarship exemption for the Federal assessment (scholarships are no longer considered a resource for the Provincial assessment) and any amount over this limit will be viewed as a resource when calculating financial need.
