What Can I Do Online?
- Application forms and guides are available in PDF format.
- Check the status of your student loan application.
- Research information about the student loan program and grants/bursaries.
- View your Temporary and Final assessment (no longer mailed out to students).
What Can SFAIC Do For Me?
Come into our office, and we can:
- Provide you with tips sheets about the Prince Edward Island Student Loans Program.
- Answer questions and provide information regarding PEI and Canada Student Loans, loan repayment, bursaries and other funding options.
- Check your application status.
- Call PEI Student Financial Services on your behalf if you are having difficulties with your application.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (landed immigrant).
- Be a Prince Edward Island resident (must have lived in PEI for 12 consecutive months, without being a full-time post-secondary student).
- Be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 60% of a full course load) in an approved program at least 12 weeks in length and display satisfactory progress.
- Not be in default of previous federal or provincial loans and meet credit worthiness criteria.
- Have legitimate financial need.
- Full-time single students with no dependents, who have received a previous PEI Loan, can apply with a Returning Application Form.
Note: As an out-of-province student, you must submit a completed Academic Information Form with your PEI loan application. This is filled out and signed by the Student Access Centre on the 1st floor of the Administration Building.
How Do I Apply for Spring/Summer?
- Make sure that you are enrolled as a full-time student during your Spring and/or Summer semester(s).
- If you received loan funding for the Winter semester prior to the Spring/Summer semester, fill out a new full-time PEI Student Loan application once you have registered in Spring/Summer classes. Fill out Section 1100 with start of study dates from the September you just completed and end of study dates with when your Spring/Summer studies finishes.
- If you have not received loan funding for the Winter semester prior to the Spring/Summer semester, you must be enrolled full-time for at least 12 weeks during the Spring/Summer to qualify for loans.
