Receiving Your Loan

• You will receive a letter from FANS that will list the benefits you will receive while attending school. It will also include the procedure that you must follow if you are traveling out of your home community to go to school.
• Once you have registered for school, send in your Student Enrollment Form that is filled and signed by the Student Acces Centre on the 1st floor of the Administration Building. You can fax or send this form to FANS. They must receive this completed form before they release any funding.
• A loan agreement will be sent to you which you need to sign and send back to FANS before any loan funding is released to you.
• FANS payments are made by direct deposit to the bank account that you provide via a Bank Information Form that you send to FANS.
• FANS has worked with Nunavut banks to ensure that you will be able to obtain a bank account even if you do not have a bank in your home community.
• You will be paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. The payments will be split with 70% of the benefit paid on the 1st and 30% paid on the 15th.
• If you are eligible for the Basic Grant, you will receive a Tuition Benefit. This Benefit is deposited into your bank account and you will be responsible for using the money to pay for your tuition. Some schools charge tuition that is more than the Tuition Benefit. You will be responsible for paying this difference.
• If you are continuing your studies next year and you have received assistance from Nunavut in the past, you only need to submit an Application to Continue at least one month before classes begin with a copy of transcripts from the previous year of study that you just completed.
