What Can SFAIC Do For Me?
Come into our office, and we can:
- Provide you with tips sheets about the Northwest Territories Student Financial Assistance Program.
- Answer questions and provide information regarding NWT and Canada Student Loans, loan repayment, bursaries and other funding options.
- Check your application status.
- Call Northwest Territories on your behalf if you are having difficulties with your application.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident (landed immigrant).
- Be a resident of Northwest Territories according to program criteria.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 60% of a full course load) for at least 12 weeks in an approved program and display satisfactory progress.
- Not be in default on previous federal or provincial loans and meet credit worthiness criteria.
- Have legitimate financial need.
Note: As an Northwest Territories resident, you must submit a completed Form D - Student Enrollment Form for each semester of study. This is filled out and signed by the Student Access Centre on the 1st floor of the Administration Building.
Spring and Summer Session
- If you are registered in full-time studies during Spring or Summer and have received financial assistance for the Fall and Winter terms, you must complete a Form D - Student Enrollment Form which can be downloaded from the website.
- This form should indicate your length of study for each semester of study and be signed by the Student Access Centre. Classes during the Spring or Summer semester can be less than 12 weeks long if you attended either Fall and/or Winter classes during the academic year.
- If you are full-time during Spring or Summer and have not received financial assistance for the Fall and For Winter terms, you must complete a new application for assistance.
