Receiving Your Loan

• If your application is approved and you are awarded a Student Loan, Nova Scotia will send you four things:
• An Assessment Sheet, which show your costs, resources, the amount of your Canada Student Loan, tentative Nova Scotia Student Loan, tentative Canada Study Grant if applicable and the deadlines you must meet.
• A loan document for the Canada Student Loan.
• A Pre-Study Report, which you must complete and send to the Student Assistance Office before the deadline shown on your assessment sheet. This is needed to process your NS Student Loan and Canada Study Grant.
• Instructions for negotiating your loan document.
• The Canada Student Loan Certificate of Eligibility will be sent to your mailing address. It must be signed by the Fees Office on the 3rd floor of the Administration Building to confirm your enrolment.
• Take the Canada Student Loan Certificate of Eligibility to a designated Canada Post Outlet, such as the Canada Post in SUB. You will also be required to complete a Canada Student Loan Agreement, which you can obtain from the Canada Post Outlet and attach it to the Certificate of Eligibility. You will need to present your Photo ID, SIN card and banking information (void cheque).
• Your Nova Scotia Student Loan Certificate will be sent to the Fees Office. Make sure that the Fees Office signs the Certificate before handing it back to you.
• You will need to take the Nova Scotia Student Loan Certificate to any Royal Bank of Canada Branch to complete processing. Make sure that the RBC staff fills out the document correctly.
• Any Millennium Bursary cheques are paid directly to your lender in order to reduce the amount of your debt.
