Appeals
- You must have grounds for an appeal. Simply writing that you need more money or your parents or spouse will not contribute are insufficient grounds for appeal.
- Appeals of family contribution based on family budgets or debt loads are not considered.
- Maximum loan amounts are not appealable.
- An appeal form is available online or a letter explaining your case may be submitted to the Nova Scotia Student Assistance Office. Be sure to:
- Review your Assessment.
- Indicate, specifically, what on your assessment needs to be changed and your reason(s).
- Explain completely and concisely your grounds for appeal.
- Provide documentation to support your appeal, i.e. receipts, letters, etc. If you are unsure of what documentation to provide, contact the Nova Scotia Student Assistance Office.
- Some examples of reasons for appeal include family breakdown, an incorrect initial assessment, and exceptional expenses.
