What Can I Do Online?

  • Apply online for full-time student loans. New Brunswick applications are available in both official languages.
  • Check the status of your loan application. To access information online, you will need your date of birth and your Social Insurance Number.
  • Access other loan documents. The website offers information on other loans, bursaries and grants.
  • Access other forms. Some helpful forms you can access on this website are: Change of Address Forms, Change of Permanent Address Forms, Confirmation of Earnings Forms and Permanent Disability Forms, among others.

What Can SFAIC Do For Me?

Come into our office, and we can:

  • Provide you with tips sheets about the New Brunswick Student Financial Assistance Program.
  • Answer questions and provide information regarding New Brunswick and Canada Student Loans, loan repayment, bursaries, and other funding options.
  • Check your application status.
  • Contact New Brunswick on your behalf if you are having difficulties with your application.

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, you must:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (landed immigrant).
  • Be a New Brunswick resident (must have lived in NB for 12 consecutive months without being a full-time post-secondary student).
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 60% of a full course load) in an approved program of at least 12 weeks in length, and display satisfactory progress.
  • Not be in default on previous federal or provincial loans and meet credit worthiness criteria.
  • Have legitimate financial need.

Note: As an out-of-province student, you may submit a Request for Program Information form to the New Brunswick Student Financial Services. This is filled out by the University Student Access Centre on the 1st floor of the Administration Building. For a form click here.

Spring and Summer Session:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student for a minimum of 12 weeks in a 15 week period.
  • The application process for Intersession is very similar to that for regular school semesters. You can use the same application package that was available for the previous school year.
  • The Request for Program Information Form must be filled out by the Student Access Centre and submitted with your application.
  • You should apply for Spring/Summer funding as soon as you have registered. Because Intersession is much shorter than the regular school year, you will not have the full 45 days after classes start in which to submit your application, nor will you have the full 90 days after the beginning of classes in which to submit your Confirmation of Earnings form. It is recommended that you submit these forms as soon as possible.
