Loan Signing
Step 1: The school must confirm enrollment and remit (deduct) tuition and fees. For Alberta students, loan papers may have been electronically confirmed. Please look at the certificates. If unsure about confirmation, please contact us.
Unconfirmed certificates need to be taken to the 3rd floor of the Administration Building to be signed. Please see the Registrar's Office loan signing page for details on locations and procedures.
Step 2: After the school signs the forms, the certificate needs to be taken to a Canada Post office to be processed. Loan papers may be taken to the Canada Post office on the main floor of SUB.
What do I need to bring?
- Certificates
- Photo ID
- Proof of Social Insurance Number - SIN card or federally issued document bearing your SIN number
- Banking information for direct deposit. It is easiest to bring a void cheque, otherwise you will need to know your bank ID, transit # & account information.
How long will the money take to get to me?
From the date that the loan is processed, it should take roughly 10 business days for the funds to be direct deposited into a bank account if bank information has been provided. If the student did not provide your banking information, a cheque will be cut for and may take up to 20 business days to reach the student. If the student does not receive the funding after that point, please contact lenders or come see us for assistance.
What can I do if I need money right now or if I didn't get enough money?
Contact us; we will help students explore their options.
What about my other funding?
Bursaries and grants come separately from loan certificates. Usually, on the notice of assessment, there will be disbursement dates indicated by the type of funding.
For Alberta students, bursaries and grants will be mailed to your home address based on the dates set on the notice of assessment. Plans for direct deposit options have been delayed.
