Receiving Your Loan

A Notice of Assessment (NoA) will be mailed to your home address (also available online). This will indicate the type of funding, amount, when and where your money will be sent.

For BC Loans, a Confirmation of Enrolment document will also be sent to you or your school to confirm your full-time enrolment during the study period that was applied for. This must be signed by the University Fees Office on the 3rd floor of the Administration Building. Following this, the BC Confirmation of Enrolment must be mailed or faxed to StudentAid BC.

If you are receiving Canada Student Loans, you will receive a Canada Student Loan Agreement in the mail. The Fees Office will also confirm your enrolment on this document.

Students who are receiving BC loans for the first time will have a Master BC Student Loan Agreement sent to their home address. This document outlines the student's responsibilities, as well as terms and conditions when accepting and repaying a BC student loan. Once submitted, the document is active for the student's lifetime. It does not need to be signed by the Fees Office.

Students under 19 will need a guarantor to sign the Master BC Student Loan Agrement. The guarantor may be a parent/guardian, who must be over 19, employed full-time and be a resident of BC.

The filled out Master BC Loan Agreement for first time BC funded students and the Canada Student Loan Agreement must be processed at a designated Canada Post Outlet, like the Canada Post in SUB. You will need to bring your Loan Agreement(s), Photo ID, SIN card and banking information (void cheque).

Disbursement of funding usually takes 5-10 business days before being deposited into your bank account. A portion may automatically go to the school. If you are not sure if this applies to you, ask SFAIC.
