Your completed application and any applicable appendices must be received by the Student Services Branch at least 6 weeks prior to the study end date for which you are requesting assistance.

What Can SFAIC Do For Me?
Come into our office, and we can:
- Answer questions and provide information regarding BC and Canada Student Loans, loan repayment, bursaries and other funding options.
- Check your application status.
- Call BC Student Aid on your behalf if you are having difficulties with your application.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply, you must:
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (landed immigrant).
- Be a BC resident (must have lived in BC for 12 consecutive months without being a full-time post-secondary student).
- Be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 60% of a full course load) in an approved program and display satisfactory progress.
- If you have previous loans, they must be in good standing
- If you are older than 22 and applying for loans for the first time, you must pass a credit check
- Have legitimate financial need.
Note: As an out-of-province student, you must submit a completed Appendix 3 with your BC Student Aid application. This is filled out by the Student Access Centre on the 1st floor of the Administration Building. For a form click here or contact SFAIC.
Spring and Summer Session:
- To apply for the Spring and/or Summer term(s), you must fill out BC Student Aid Appendix 3 and Appendix 7. You can ask the Student Services Branch to send them to you. Remember to complete and send in the Appendices as quickly as possible.
- The dates and costs used on the Appendices must be from the beginning of your current academic year to the end of the Spring/Summer term (i.e. September to June). Be sure that the dates on Appendix 7 match the dates on Appendix 3.
- In order to be eligible, the breaks between periods of study (i.e. Winter and Spring semesters) cannot be more than 3 weeks long.
Pacific Leaders Program:
- 20 graduate fellowships of $20 000 to students conducting research related to BC government priorities.
- BC loan forgiveness for employees who work in the public service industry for three years.
- Scholarships of up to $7500 for members of public service who wish to pursue further education.
- Up to 60 scholarships annually of $2500 for children whose parents have been employees of the public service for at least three years.
