How Do I apply?

• You can visit the Alberta Students' Finance website to apply online-
• Stop by our office located on the first floor of the Students' Union building at the University of Alberta to pick up a paper application.

Where do I send my application form once I've finished it?

• You can bring your application to our office where we will check it over for you, make sure everything is filled out correctly and send it via provincial courier to your lenders. -

• If you are unable to visit us, you can mail your application form to:

How long will it take for me to receive my funding?

The processing time usually takes about 4-6 weeks, with high-traffic times such as September taking a little bit longer. If you know you will need your funding right when school starts, it is highly encouraged to apply in the first week of June when the new application forms will be available. If you find yourself in a dire financial situation while you are waiting to receive your funding, you may want to take a look at the Access Fund or an Emergency Student Loan.

Who are my lenders and how can I contact them?

It is important to distinguish between your lenders and the provincial government division that receives and assesses your loan application. Keep in contact with your provincial government and all your lenders to keep them (and yourself) updated on information pertaining to your student loan.

It is also important to know that your student loan funding will likely come from two sources: the Alberta government and the Canadian government, with each covering a portion of your study period costs. When you hand in your application form, you are essentially applying for both Alberta student loans and Canada student loans.
