VP External

Petros Kusmu

The Vice President External is responsible for Students' Union relations with government and the larger community. Key aspects of this portfolio include developing policy on issues such as post-secondary funding, coordinating provincial and national lobbying efforts, and improving the public profile of students and their concerns.

Petros completed the combined honours program in Economics and Political Science and is now taking extra Business and Economics courses. He has been elected four times as an arts Councillor, has co-founded two groups (Student Network for Advocacy and Public Policy and the Eudaimons) and a student peer-reviewed journal (the Lyceum), and was twice President of the award-winning UofA Musicians’ Club. Petros was born and raised in Edmonton and was also fortunate enough to live in Eritrea for seven years. In his spare time, Petros performs frequently with his band, Quordal Fusion, and hopes to release an album this summer.
